Considering a Property Sale When Mortgage Payments Are Behind
If mortgage payments are behind and you are considering selling, time-sensitive information matters. A conversation with a property buyer is one possible step, but it does not replace independent guidance about your mortgage or legal deadlines.
Contact your loan servicer promptly
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development recommends contacting your lender or loan servicer when you are having difficulty making payments. HUD also points homeowners to HUD-approved housing counseling agencies. See HUD’s foreclosure resources for independent information.
Keep notices and dates organized
Keep correspondence, account information and any scheduled deadlines together. Do not assume that contacting a buyer, receiving an offer, or signing an agreement automatically pauses foreclosure or another action. Discuss time-sensitive concerns with your servicer, counselor or qualified legal adviser.
Information a buyer may need
If you want Jitu Investment Group to review a possible purchase, share the property location, condition, occupancy and desired timing. Tell us about any deadline that affects the review. Avoid sending sensitive account documents through a general inquiry form; ask how any required documents should be provided.
Review feasibility and written terms
A sale depends on factors including the property review, title, amounts needed to settle obligations, and the parties’ agreement. There is no guarantee that a purchase can close before a particular deadline, stop creditor calls, eliminate a debt or produce a specific credit outcome.
Our role in the conversation
Jitu Investment Group considers property purchases in its Virginia and Maryland service areas. We can discuss whether the property fits our criteria and explain a proposed purchase. We are a property buyer; this article is general information and does not provide legal, tax or individualized mortgage advice.
Tell us about your property
Share the address or parcel number, property type, condition, and your preferred timeline. There is no obligation to accept an offer.
